Abstract. There are different geographically provoked factors that affect human health and way of life. The degree of comfort of the territory is considered as an integral sanitary and environmental indicator based on the analysis of approximately 30 parameters of the human environment. Therefore, these natural factors of people's life including the natural and climatic conditions and the natural resource potential of the territory affect the lifestyle and health of the population, the cost of fuel, clothing, food, etc. Certainly, the living conditions of the population include the conditions for the comprehensive development of the individual and the quality and comfort of the living environment, which influences the economy of the country. The hypothesis is that countries and peoples are initially set in unequal geographical conditions, which subsequently contributes to a gap in competitiveness and the degree of proximity to the sustainable development of the state. To test this hypothesis, it is necessary to create a methodology for assessing the environmental comfort of a country/region. In this study, analysis and selection of methods for assessing climatic comfort is carried out. So, the result of this work is the spatial distribution of comfort zones in Afghanistan using cluster analysis based on the remote sensing information, climate data and GIS technologies, presented in the form of a map. This analysis shows that almost all of Afghan regions (and populated places) are not comfortable for people. The results could be used in population distribution and urban planning. |
