Abstract
Contain DEM on value data of elevation topographic surface, that need to make contour map, DEM is the basis of processing extraction of Digital relief maps. The goal of this study is evaluation free DEM to extract contour lines, the quality and accuracy of DEM, and comfortable with the standard contour maps that scale 1:5000 to represent the topography of the land surface. Cartography comparison to contour from DEM and contour lines from topography maps This study uses quantitative methods and statistic The methods is based on Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Error (ME).so this Study faces on Visualization evaluation to results of analysis of DEM. Consideration of the accuracy of the degree of simulation of extraction contour lines from DEM and original contour lines. Results indicate that SRTM DEM, and ASTER GDEM both may be used in generation contour maps with a scale of 1:50000, so RMSE to SRTM, ASTER is 6,6m and 8,6m and RM is 5,1m 5,5m. the quality analysis showed that agreement output from free DEM with the standard accuracy of contour map 1:50000 so can you depend on free DEM to extraction contour line with contour interval 10m to 20m and scale 1:50000 with 5m to 10m. The cartographic analysis of contour lines produced from free DEM is characterized by its compatibility with the cartographic rules for contour lines and the absence of distortions and many abnormal phenomena in it, especially when using the Global mapper program.
